We are a small group of semi-retired IT and design professionals in California, the land of many cars. We've only been in business for a year now and our Shopify store just came online in 2016.
Our main product right now is the Blinkertag® clip-on vehicle reflector, but we are working on a few other product designs we plan to release next year.
This is the story behind the Blinkertag®:
They say "necessity is the mother of invention". Well, after a brush with death in a traffic accident which involved a near-miss of a 'dead car' parked near a roadway one of us found it 'necessary' to 'invent' a gizmo that could help other drivers see 'dead cars'. There is something very motivating about near-death experiences!
After speaking with members of the California Highway Patrol we found out that a lot of devastating accidents occur when drivers crash into vehicles that for one reason or another pull off to the side of the road. The CHP officers told us that they wished there was some way to 'mark' these cars should the drivers not use the emergency flashers (never a good idea), or if the flashers run out of battery power and die.
And they wanted something that would be easy to use. By 'easy' they meant something a driver wouldn't have to go searching in their trunk to find at night in a storm or near a busy roadway. So we put our thinking caps on and came up with the Blinkertag®.
Blinkertags store inside the car, they are super easy to clip on and off, and they use the same retro reflective tape that you see all over the roadways. They are designed to work on all passenger vehicles.
A Blinkertag® is intended to help other drivers notice that a dead vehicle isn't moving and could in fact be a dangerous obstruction. Blinkertags don't need batteries, and they work whether or not the driver of the dead vehicle has to abandon it to go for assistance.
We like to think that a Blinkertag® is sort of like a lug-nut wrench to change a flat tire. You carry it with you and you hope you never have to use it, but it's nice to know it's there. Please get a Blinkertag® and put it in the glove compartment of your vehicle. Hopefully you will never use it, but if you do, it sure will help us other drivers out.
